Frequency Allocations for the C-Band

MIIT has since 2001 issued licenses in about 300 cities for FWA broadband services in the band 3 400 – 3 600 MHz. These licenses have been issued to operators that fall into two categories:
i) traditional telecom operators, such as China Unicom, China Mobile, and China Telecom that use the FWA service to complement their DSL service in areas with aging copper cable or in areas too far from the nearest switching center to provide an adequate DSL service;
ii) new operators that provide FWA in competition with the established telecom operators.

In China, Huawei and ZTE Corporation are the world’s top WiMAX equipment manufacturers and on the board of directors of both the WiMAX Forum and Open Patent Alliance.

China is in footnote No. 5.429 which also allocates the band 3 300 – 3 400 MHz to the fixed and mobile services on a primary basis and as such can be used for BWA. english to igbo China also proposes that the band 3 300 – 3 400 MHz be included for IMT studies under WRC-15 agenda 1.1. This band is already used by India, Nepal and Indonesia for IMT.
