NBTC demands schedules from TV ops

19/06/2012 – The National Broadcasting and Telecommunications Commission (NBTC) has tightened its grip on the TV business by ordering all free TV operators and TrueVisions to submit their programme schedules and report any change made to them in the future.

The regulator said the move is in line with Section 34 of the Radio and Television Broadcasting Act.

Airing of a new programme must be approved by the NBTC 15 days in advance. Free TV _ Channels 3, 5, 7, 9, 11 and Thai PBS _ must clarify their signal transmissions on all platforms as well. “So far, none of the free TVs or TrueVisions has complied with this rule. They should do it now,” said Col Natee Sukonrat, chairman of the NBTC’s broadcasting committee.
