Australia: slow ad year ahead

A leading analysis firm, WARC is predicting growth of just 0.1% in the Australian ad market this year, compared to 11.3% in China.

Warc, which looks at trends and data from global markets, says while overall ad spend will grow 2.3%, when inflation is taken into account this number will be 0.1%.

While China and Russia (8.2%) are the two biggest growers, the US (1.8%) and recession-hit UK (1%) are both predicted to outstrip the Aussie figures.

However, France and Germany (both -1.3%) and Italy (-6.3%) are predicted to plummet by the end of 2012, notwithstanding a major economic event like a eurozone collapse.

But growth should improve in 2013, with Warc predicting a 5.2% increase compared to 2.5% globally this year.
