USA Tablet ownership more than doubles this year

The number of online adults in the U.S. that own a tablet has more than doubled in the past year, according to a report from research firm Forrester.

Overall, 19% of adults in the U.S. reported having a tablet, says research on consumers and technology. They're popular among younger crowds, with a quarter of Gen Y (age 24-32) and Gen X (age 33-46) adults owning one.

Expect the number of Americans with a tablet to skyrocket in the next few years. Forrester says 34 million owned a tablet last year, and jumps to 113 million by 2016.
