CNN INTERNATIONAL AND NIKON EXPAND PARTNERSHIP

Sponsorship includes extended ‘Human to Hero’ and launch of daily photo series ‘Defining Moments’

CNN International today announced that Nikon has renewed its sponsorship of 'Human to Hero', continuing a long-standing relationship between the world’s leading international news network and the Japanese multinational. The deal includes a year-long multiplatform sponsorship of the CNN special segment involving TV, digital and social media platforms.

In new episodes of 'Human to Hero' within the network’s ‘World Sport’ program, international sporting heroes recount their personal stories of passion, dedication and determination in the search for excellence. Upcoming profiles include Fauja Singh, the first 100-year-old to finish a marathon, and Zoe Smith, Britain’s first woman to win a Commonwealth Games medal in weightlifting.

In addition, digital coverage of these episodes features online at CNN.com World Sport. The Nikon Facebook fan page 'Beautiful Dreamers’ also hosts ‘Human to Hero’ segments and call for photo submissions showing fans striving to achieve their own dreams. The page currently has over 400,000 likes from people around the world.

The sponsorship also includes the launch of a ‘Defining Moments’ photo gallery on CNN.com starting May 1st. Curated from Monday to Friday, it features photographs that capture pivotal moments that define the news as they happen on the world stage.

"We are delighted to once again work alongside Nikon to connect them with our discerning and influential viewers," said William Hsu, Vice President of News Advertising Sales, CNN Asia Pacific. "This latest partnership also demonstrates our on-going commitment to strengthening high quality and long-term relationships with our clients, with Nikon first having partnered with CNN back in 2003.”

In addition to ‘Human to Hero’, we have come to sponsor the `Defining Moments’ photo gallery that captures key moments of various challenges on the world stage,” said Maki Yoshida, General Manager, Corporate Branding Department, Corporate Planning Headquarters, Nikon. “We believe that everyone who pursues the challenge of chasing their dream is beautiful, and through the partnership with CNN, we are pleased to continue delivering our message to its global audience.”

Since its launch in January 2012, 'Human to Hero' has featured inspiring professionals who’ve overcome seemingly-insurmountable obstacles to become champions in a number of fields. Previous guests include three-time Olympic champion long distance runner Tirunesh Dibaba from Ethiopia, Charlotte Dujarin, two-time Olympic equestrian champion from Great Britain, and five-time women’s surfing world champion Australian Stephanie Gilmore.
