Focusing on Flight 370, CNN flies high

CNN was heavily criticized for its round-the-clock coverage of the Malaysia Airlines Flight 370 disappearance the past two weeks.

But it’s hard to argue with the numbers.

Viewership soared during the network’s lost aircraft blitz, and that’s notable considering CNN’s well-documented ratings woes over the past few years.

For the week ended March 23, when the bulk of its primetime focused on the flight, CNN averaged 812,000 total viewers, according to Nielsen, or more than double its primetime average during February.

Among adults 25-54, the key news demo, CNN averaged 306,000, 4,000 ahead of rival Fox News Channel and up from 131,000 in February.http://www.medialifemagazine.com/focusing-on-plane-mystery-cnn-soars/
