Kate’s Wardrobe Secrets

What the Duchess of Cambridge wears – when, where and why

1907_itv

Since she grabbed Prince William’s attention wearing a near see-through dress at a student fashion show, Kate Middleton’s outfits have always been in the public eye. Kate’s Wardrobe Secrets, broadcast exclusively on ITV Choice on Thursday 27th July, reveals Kate’s favourite labels, the styles she chooses – whether she is going to a sports ground or a film premiere – and her go-to designers, who include Catherine Walker – a favourite of her late mother-in-law, Diana – Jenny Packham and Alexander McQueen.

At the other end of the scale they disclose how high street favourites such as LK Bennett, Reiss and Hobbs are regular choices and how small, niche labels like Goat, Preen, Me & Em and maternity specialist Seraphine have seen their businesses boom after being worn by the Duchess. With every outfit she wears scrutinised, dissected and discussed, this hour-long documentary also finds out what celebrities, stylists, fashion writers and bloggers think of her choices, and ask them to reveal their particular favourites.

Kate has graced the cover of every fashion, celebrity and gossip magazine going and even made it to the cover of Vogue. Without a doubt, she is the current golden girl of fashion – and it seems every woman wants a slice of that magical Duchess glamour.

NIELSEN BRINGS NEW INNOVATION EVALUATION FRAMEWORK TO MARKET WITH LAUNCH OF TARGET GROUP PERFORMANCE ANALYSIS

SINGAPORE – 18 JULY 2017 – Nielsen (NYSE: NLSN) has announced the launch of Target Group Performance Analysis, a new innovation evaluation framework that will allow fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG) manufacturers to more accurately predict an innovation’s overall viability and the growth potential within specific, target, consumer segmentations. This new, first-of-its-kind global innovation offering is grounded in Nielsen’s proprietary innovation database, BASES, which is the industry’s largest database that is used to predict consumer behavior in a retail environment.

In today’s innovation landscape, many buyer group testing tools are either limited to broad definitions, like “moms” or “brand buyers,” or are unable to accurately predict target buyer preferences for an innovation, when compared to other category competitors. Changing the game, Nielsen’s Target Group Performance Analysis is able to provide an absolute look at a specific buyer and how responsive they may be to a certain initiative. Through flexible database simulations that are based on Nielsen’s proprietary database and deep knowledge of target response patterns, actionable insights around key buyer potential are revealed. With this knowledge, companies now have a new, more strategic framework for evaluating their innovation decisions. They can refine their decision making to consider both their overall potential of success with the likelihood of appealing to their strategic buyer, allowing them to innovate with a growth mindset.

More predictive than traditional methods of target group analysis, this solution is backed by a multi-year research and development effort that verified the accuracy of the model in a variety of major markets across all major super categories and a range of target group profiles. This tool has been validated against proprietary target group databases of 10,000+ concepts among non-general population groups such as teens, parents and pet owners. Unbounded by category, country or consumer definition, the solution reliably predicts preferences for any strategic target.

“We are excited to add Nielsen Target Group Performance Analysis to our product offering roster,” said Anupam Bhargava, head of Nielsen’s Innovation group in Growth and Emerging Markets. “Nielsen has a strong track record of helping our clients consistently achieve better innovation outcomes, faster and more efficiently. Our leading-edge development strategies put product offerings in prime position to succeed. Continuing this trend, Nielsen Target Group Analysis will takes the guess work out of targeted initiatives for our clients and will add context and confidence to targeted innovation decisions with both survival and strategy in mind.”

Joyne selects Eutelsat for flexible new pay-TV offer for Dutch homes and recreational market

Line-up of 30 channels available from 24 July through EUTELSAT 9B’s powerful European footprint

Paris, 17 July 2017 – Joyne, a new multi-channel TV venture for Dutch viewers and the country’s recreational market, has selected the EUTELSAT 9B satellite as its platform to reach viewers in the Netherlands and across Europe. Joyne has signed a multi-year, multi-transponder contract with Eutelsat Communications (NYSE Euronext Paris: ETL) and is preparing to officially launch on 24 July, using Eutelsat’s Paris-Rambouillet teleport for uplink services.

The new platform will begin with a diverse mix of pay and free-to-air channels with a strong accent on sport. It will feature 30 well-known Dutch and international channel brands including Fox Sports HD channels and Discovery Networks Benelux. Using the powerful pan-European beam on EUTELSAT 9B viewers will be able to receive the DTH service with Conax Contego Cam cards and dishes starting from 45cm. They will also be able to tap into content at adjacent video neighbourhoods.

The monthly subscription option, which gives subscribers access to the full suite of Joyne programming, will be available from €13 per month. Joyne’s competitive proposition is also based on flexible short-term subscriptions, from one month, for Dutch viewers with second homes and mobile homes as well as special offers for public spaces in camping sites and bars.

Hans Brunas, CEO of Joyne, said, “The new Joyne brand stands for connection and the pleasure afforded by quality entertainment. Our new proposition will be distinctive for TV quality, broad reception across Europe and flexibility in subscriptions. With these criteria at the centre of our ambition it is a logical choice to select Eutelsat as our satellite platform and we look forward to a long cooperation.”

Michel Azibert, Chief Commercial and Development Officer of Eutelsat, added: “This new contract with Joyne on EUTELSAT 9B reflects the efficiency of satellites for targeting language communities and for extending access to premium pay-TV content for the many viewers who want short-term seasonal solutions. It marks the first step in a partnership with a new European player that places exceptional flexibility at its core.”

CASBAA members Media Partners Asia are releasing their latest forecast for online video in Asia, predicting the market size will triple by 2022 to reach a total of US$46 billion in value, of which, as much as 75% of that coming from China. The report also highlights the strengths of local OTT services over foreign rivals like Netflix; while also pointing to YouTube and Facebook as the biggest advertising drivers in the space.

A number of other interesting stories in OTT land this week. HBO will make all eight episodes of Insecure season one available for free on its YouTube channel the same day that season two is slated to premiere on HBO. A new research report shows that SVOD gaining perceptual parity with legacy pay-TV and that linear to SVOD viewing really is a generational play. And to finish off an insight from David Bloom: In The Digital Future, What Do Studios Look Like (If Anything At All)? For more OTT related stories visit CASBAA OTT Group Newsfeed.

Ah, we all hate reruns. But this week the digerati were captivated by an Internet-wide rerun: a reprise of the 2014 debate over Net Neutrality. There was a “Day of Action” on Wednesday which – if you believe its promoters – was Yuge! Everybody who was anybody on the net weighed in. No surprise of course that Goobook was all in favor. Even that dreaded demon, a telco, tried to get in on the action, as AT&T announced it was for NN, too….but not for the Wheeler FCC’s “regulate everything under Title II” approach. If you want to understand both sides of the argument, you can see Google’s official spin here (note the “free and open Internet” mantra), and that of the South Dakota Senator who chairs the Senate Commerce Committee, who says over-regulation risks killing investment in his rural state. Variety points out the similarities of the Day of Action with the campaign against the Stop Online Piracy Act (SOPA), which died in 2012 after the “free and open internet” crowd alleged stronger antipiracy enforcement would “break the internet.”

The anti-Qatar alliance has launched a fresh attack on the Qatar-based broadcaster al-Jazeera Arabic, accusing it of having “blood on its hands”, inciting hate, violence and discrimination as well as anti-Semitism. The UAE minister responsible for media regulation said that al Jazeera the has given a platform to “some of the most dangerous terrorists in the world” and needed to be subject to new and externally-monitored editorial controls. The remarks about the need for new editorial controls confirm previous UAE statements that the total closure of the TV station is no longer being sought, but instead would be subject to what would amount to a severe anti-Qatari alliance censorship. Al Jazeera for it’s part has said that via video any call for closing down or obstructing access to their channels is an attempt to silence freedom of expression.

Clashes continue between Big Internet and various governments. The Vietnamese government said Facebook and Youtube had taken down 3,000 videos with “bad content.” No news this week from Bangkok, after the Thai government hit the brakes on its regulator’s drive to get Youtube and Facebook under control. In Germany, the parliament advanced a law that would provide major fines for social media companies that fail to delete hate speech promptly. Meanwhile, Twitter decided not to pick a fight with The Donald, and said his tweets don’t violate their standards.

A lawmaker in the Philippines has put forward a new bill that would extend the National Telecommunications Commission’s (NTC) authority to regulate telecommunication service providers. The bill is seen as a means to increase internet and broadband service standards across the Philippines, which currently provides the slowest internet speeds of any country in the Asia Pacific Region. Under existing law, the NTC has little power to enforce more than the bare minimum for service standards, and is liable to civil lawsuits from uncompliant service providers. The proposed bill seeks to amend the current policy act by allowing regulators to use financial penalties as an enforcement mechanism. Daily fines could then be imposed on service providers who fail to improve connection speeds by NTC-set deadlines. The amendment would also grant the NTC immunity from the aforementioned civil lawsuits. We’ll be exploring these issues, and many others, in CASBAA’s Philippines in View conference in Manila, on August 30.

Korea’s KT and its affiliate KT SkyLife have launched an upgraded satellite TV service for cars, combining satellite broadcasting and long-term evolution (LTE) mobile network technologies. The two companies have jointly developed technologies to realize the smooth shift between LTE mobile and satellite networks as well as a smaller satellite antenna. The new service is expected to gain extra momentum on the back of autonomous cars and the companies have pledged to target not only Korea but also global markets, especially those countries with nationwide LTE infrastructure.

Nominations for the 69th Primtime Emmy Awards are out; as expected, the list is huge. It’s also apparently proof that people who work in TV have very little time to actually watch TV, and as a result, the list seems to be favoring buzz over critical acclaim. Which has led to a series of surprising nominations, including, as always, some notable snubs. The final awards will be given out on 17 September, so feel free to spend the summer brooding over the list.

After becoming YouTube’s first video to reach one billion views, PSY’s “Gangnam Style” is no longer the platform’s most popular video. That honour ow goes to Wiz Khalifa’s “See You Again,” a song that debuted with the release of Furious 7 as an ode to actor Paul Walker, who died in 2013. “Gangnam Style” held the top spot for nearly five years and the song’s video has been viewed over 2.8 billion times. “See You Again” is currently leading in the race to 3 billion views. No word on whether it’s 3 billion individual people or the same person watching it again and again and again…or not.

I know, I know…..we’re all supposed to love videos. But, to tell the truth I HATE HATE HATE autoroll videos on websites and it seems my impression is correct: there are more and more of them. So I agree with this author: they are a revolting experience.

Armenia’s SHANT TV launches new HD platform at Eutelsat HOTBIRD neighbourhood

Armenia’s first all-HD pay-TV offer available from 15 July to homes in Europe, Middle East and European parts of Russian Federation

SHANT TV has signed a multi-year contract with Eutelsat to support its new all-HD venture.

Broadcasting through HOTBIRD for almost ten years, SHANT TV is scaling up to a multi-channel pay-TV offer for Armenian-speaking viewers in HOTBIRD’s vast footprint that takes in Europe, the Middle East and the European part of the Russian Federation. Available exclusively in High Definition for a minimum subscription of €5 a month, the platform will feature SHANT Premium, Armenia Premium and SHANT Music. This was decisive in our choice of HOTBIRD for distributing our new offer. Our thanks go to Eutelsat for their highly valuable support and consultancy, especially for technical and marketing activities.”

Michel Azibert, Eutelsat’s Commercial and Development Director, said: “The exceptionally broad coverage of HOTBIRD and an offer of 1,000 channels in 30 languages make it the point of reference for broadcasters seeking to reach dispersed communities. We are delighted to support SHANT TV’s effort to leverage HOTBIRD’s unique strengths to reach Armenian viewers across multiple countries. The transition from Standard Broadcasting of a single channel to a multi-channel HD platform also demonstrates the accelerating trend towards High Definition. Nowhere is this more apparent than at our HOTBIRD that already hosts 280 HD channels.”
