Breakout horror film, “Get Out,” leads the pack with six nominations including Movie of the Year (Presented by Toyota C-HR), Best Villain, Best Fight Against the System. The film’s star, David Kaluuya, secures his first-ever major U.S. award show nods for Best Actor in a Movie, Next Generation and Best Duo with Lil Rel Howery. Additional leading nominees include “Beauty and the Beast” and “Stranger Things” with four, as well as “Atlanta,” “Game of Thrones,” “Hidden Figures,” “Logan,” “Moonlight” and “This Is Us,” scoring three nods each.

This year’s nominations include transformations of both categories fans have come to expect as well as the introduction of new ones. While fan favorites like Best Kiss, Best Hero, Best Villain and more remain, MTV has collapsed the divide between film, television and streaming series, instead nominating the best performances no matter the screen. Also for the first time, the former Best Actor and Best Actress categories have been replaced with non-gendered Best Actor in a Movie and Best Actor in a Show.

Among the most iconic categories, Best Fight has been modernized to Best Fight the System reflecting the audience’s increasing awareness and activism around broader social justice issues. In addition, MTV is introducing new and timely categories including: Best American Story, awarded to the show or film that showcases America at its most open and diverse; Tearjerker, awarded to the scene that most illuminates the emotional connection people feel to characters; Best Host, highlighting the cross-section of personalities speaking to young people today; Best Reality Competition and Next Generation. Additional categories will be revealed closer to the show.

  • Since independence we’ve been hearing from almost everyone that we need to work for welfare of common man and uplift the poor class

 

  • 2000 years ago, India’s contribution to the world GDP was 32%, which came down to 4.2% in 1950

 

  • In 1950 India’s share in world manufacturing went to as low as 1.7% & international trade during British regime fell from 20% to 1.4%

 

  • We understand why this happened, because British wanted to rule us for a longer time and take our wealth to their country

 

  • But 70 years after their exit have our economic conditions improved at the same rate as that of global standards?

 

  • GDP in 1950 was 4.2% was reduced to 3.2% in 1980 and now in 2017 it has reached around 7.5%

 

  • Manufacturing in 1950 was 1.7%, 3.2% in 1980, in 2015 it was 4% while global trade was 1.3% = 1950, 0.5% = 1980 & now 1.7%

 

  • If we compare these statistics with the growth in India’s population then we see that since 1950 our growth has been negative

 

  • From 2000-2015 India earned income of 2.23 trillion dollars, of which 81% wealth went to 10% of the population & 19% to the rest 90%

 

  • Astonishingly, 58% wealth of the 154 lakh crore went to the top 1%, this clearly shows that poor became poorer and rich became richer

 

  • GST is of course a great measure but it is just the first step, we need to do lot more to eradicate poverty from our country
  • I also quoted Shri Rajiv Gandhi ji’s speech, which he made on 28 Dec 1985 during Congress Centenary celebrations

 

  • राजीव जी में कहा था की इंदिरा जी ने ही उन्हें स्वयं कहा था की ओछापन और स्वार्थीपन ने समाज के मूल ढाँचे में दरार डाल दी है

HBO Asia’s First Mandarin Original Series THE TEENAGE PSYCHIC’s Premiere Receives Positive Ratings

SINGAPORE, 6 APRIL 2017 – HBO Asia’s first Mandarin Original series, THE TEENAGE PSYCHIC, premiered to rave reviews and positive ratings on Sunday, 2 April. In Singapore, the series came in as the top programme across all of StarHub’s English movie channels and had higher premiere ratings than any HBO Asia Originals to date.

 

In Taiwan, the series was also the top keyword search on the Internet and the series’ behind-the-scenes footage that was released on their Facebook page received over thousands of likes within the first hour. The page also received messages from eager fans sharing that they are looking forward to the next episode and hope to have more episodes to come.

 

THE TEENAGE PSYCHIC is jointly developed with HBO and Taiwanese broadcaster, Public Television Service (PTS) and award-winning Singaporean production company, InFocus Asia. The series revolves around Xiao Zhen (小真), played by Kuo Shu Yau (郭書瑤), who possesses psychic abilities but wants to lead a typical teenage high school life. PCCW Global and Keppel Data Centres entered into the long-term collaboration agreement for the development of the ICX in 2016. The collaboration seeks to utilize the vast submarine cable capacity in the region to provide fast, quality interconnections with Asia, the Middle East, Africa, Europe and North America. IMDA and Cartoon Network Support Local Animation in Singapore with Launch of ‘Imagination Studios’

SINGAPORE (April 6, 2017) Turner’s Cartoon Network has announced the staging of a two-day Imagination Studios workshop in Singapore as part of a global initiative to inspire the next generation of storytellers and creators.

Hosted in partnership with the Infocomm Media Development Authority (IMDA), and supported by StarHub, Imagination Studios comprises an industry workshop on Friday, April 21, and a workshop for children on Saturday, April 22. The events will be held at PIXEL Studios, a dedicated facility launched by IMDA last year to spur Singapore’s next generation of digital content creators.

Both events will be fronted by highly talented animator, Daniel Chong – creator and executive producer of Cartoon Network’s hit comedy, We Bare Bears. After building a successful career in Burbank, California, Daniel will speak about his journey as an artist and the process behind creating one of the hottest animated series.

“Imagination Studios will not only help us to provide a platform to those who are interested in animation, but will also look to inspire passion in future animators too. There is a strong pool of talent in Singapore and we are dedicated to working closely with industry leaders such as IMDA and StarHub to offer them new opportunities and direction. To complement Cartoon Network’s global artist and international shorts programmes, this event is also a great way for us to connect with our viewers, and show them how some of the best animated content is made,” said Mark Eyers, Chief Content Officer for Turner’s Kids Networks in Asia Pacific.

“IMDA is excited to partner Turner’s Cartoon Network to give Singapore talent the opportunity to unleash their imagination and creativity, to learn from and be inspired by artists like Daniel Chong. Those attending the industry seminars will hear from a number of animation professionals from Turner and leading studios who will each provide insight into how to conceptualise, refine and pitch an idea. Attendees will also be given the opportunity to submit their own animation idea to Turner which, if selected, could be fully-funded and produced by Cartoon Network in partnership with IMDA, with the potential to be screened across Asia Pacific and beyond.

The workshop on Saturday, April 22, will introduce children to the wonderful world of animation. Through hands-on and group sessions, kids will learn how to create their very own stop-animation video in a fun and active environment. The session will be conducted by Vaibhav Kumarev, director of Vaibhav Studios in India, and creator of the award-winning Cartoon Network original series, Lamput.

Daniel Chong is the creator of the BAFTA Award-winning animated series We Bare Bears produced by Cartoon Network Studios. In 2014, he won an Annie Award for his storyboarding work on Pixar’s first television special, Toy Story of Terror! His additional credits include Pixar’s upcoming 2015 film Inside OutCars 2, and Disney Feature Animation’s Bolt. Chong is the co-producer of the popular web blog MY MILK TOOF, which was published into a book with Chronicle Books in 2011. A native of Southern California, he has a BFA in Illustration from Cal State Long Beach, and has attended CalArts.

  • SILICON VALLEY SEASON 4 airs on HBO same time as the U.S. on Monday, April 24 at 10am, with a same day primetime encore at 10pm.
  • GIRLS culminates with the last episode of its final season on HBO same day as the U.S. this April 17 at 10pm.
