Eutelsat Communications: Capacity on four satellites mobilised to cover the two rounds of the French presidential elections
Over 400 hours of satellite links secured so far.

Paris, 18 April 2012 – Capacity on four satellites operated by Eutelsat Communications (Euronext Paris: ETL) will be mobilised by French and international media to assure live coverage of the French presidential elections on Sunday 22 April and 6 May 2012. Over 400 hours of capacity has so far been booked on EUTELSAT 12 West A, EUTELSAT 8 West A, EUTELSAT 7A and EUTELSAT 5 West A in order to transmit live coverage from major sites across France including voting booths, the HQs of the country’s political parties and the Elysée Palace.

Resources leased on Eutelsat satellites will meet significant broadcaster requirements by France Télévision Group, and Globe Cast France and Arqiva France operators which secure capacity for their own TV channel customers.

For Jean-François Leprince-Ringuet, Eutelsat’s Commercial Director: “The French presidential elections set the stage for a year of strong activity for our on-demand allocation service with elections in several major countries and iconic sports events. Our on-demand service is mainly used for covering SNG news and large events broadcast live on TV. Furthermore, it adds flexibility to our customers’ pool of permanent resources through occasional contracts designed to address an uptick in activity.”

Eutelsat’s Booking Centre coordinates the allocation of occasional satellite capacity from minimum periods of 10 minutes for SNGs up to several days for the coverage of sporting events such as the Olympic Games or the FIFA World Cup.

In addition to these Ku-band services and following the roll-out of the KA-SAT satellite, Eutelsat has launched a new SNG solution dubbed NewsSpotter enabling the use of Ka-band terminals that can be carried in a back-pack for Fly-away use or fitted onto a small car.

Celestial Pictures announces winners of Shaw Brothers remake screenplay competition with Beijing Film Academy and Youth Film Studio
Acclaimed producer and director Sylvia Chang to mentor winning screenplay

[Beijing, China, April 17, 2012] Celestial Pictures, the diversified entertainment company, announced today the result of its Shaw Brothers remake screenplay competition held in conjunction with the Beijing Film Academy (BFA) and Youth Film Studio (YFS). Award-winning producer and director Sylvia Chang presented the awards to the winners and shared valuable directorial insights with the attending guests.

The screenplay competition is part of Celestial Pictures’ “New Directors Workshop” (NDW) program which was created to discover and nurture new Chinese filmmakers through mentorships and production opportunities utilizing the world renowned Shaw Brothers Film Library.

“Celestial Pictures is proud to announce the winners of the New Directors Workshop and we look forward to nurturing the unique visions of these talented writers and directors with the help of Sylvia, the Beijing Film Academy and Youth Film Studio,” said Mr. Ross Pollack, CEO of Celestial Pictures. “This is just the beginning of a program which we hope will lead to more collaboration among the three parties to provide opportunities for promising directors to have their visions realized.”

“The selection process was really difficult as most of the scripts we received were very creative and full of imagination. I do appreciate all of the contestants for their passion and creativity.” Sylvia Chang said.

Besides being one of the judges of the competition, Ms. Chang also advised the finalists throughout the script development process.

The winner of the Shaw Brothers remake screenplay competition is Tian Li’s re-interpretation of Love with the Perfect Stranger (which won the Hong Kong Film Award’s Best Screenplay and Best Actress in 1986). The second and third runner-ups are Huang Huang’s version of Loving You (originally directed by Johnnie To) and Wang Mengyuan’s update on The Lady is the Boss (which originally starred Shaw icon Kara Hui). Ms. Chang will mentor the winner Tian Li and in cooperation with Celestial Pictures, help produce his script. Celestial Pictures will also work closely with BFA and YFS and jointly produce the screenplays.

The Shaw Brothers remake screenplay competition, launched in 2011, was open to BFA’s 2011 graduating class as well past graduates of BFA’s directors program. The contestants had to submit original treatments based on one of ten pre-selected movies from the Shaw Brothers Film Library. Six finalists were then selected and given funds to develop their treatments into full-length screenplays.

Dolby and Philips Unveil 3D HD Format Capable of Bringing Full HD 3D to Glasses-Free 3D Devices
Dolby 3D designed to work throughout the chain to deliver a 3D format solution enabling HD 3D on any 3D display device

LAS VEGAS–(BUSINESS WIRE)– Dolby Laboratories, Inc. (NYSE: DLB) and Royal Philips Electronics (NYSE: PHG; AEX: PHI) today unveiled Dolby® 3D, a 3D HD format and suite of technologies designed to deliver full HD 3D content to 3D-enabled devices, including glasses-free displays. Dolby 3D is being demonstrated at the NAB Show® (April 16—19, 2012) at booth SU1212.

The two leading companies have undertaken the joint project to improve the 3D viewing experience on displays of all sizes, including smartphones, tablets, PCs, and televisions. Dolby 3D is a complete system designed to work throughout the chain to deliver clear glasses-free 3D content that operates over existing distribution systems.

“Philips® has a long history in 3D technologies and video innovation, and Dolby has a proven track record of enabling technologies to enhance entertainment experiences. “By unveiling Dolby 3D, we introduce a 3D HD format capable of powering glasses-free 3D displays of any size, enabling broadcasters, operators, content aggregators, and device manufacturers to deliver HD-quality 3D on any device.”

Ramzi Haidamus, Executive Vice President, Sales and Marketing, Dolby Laboratories, stated: “We believe that Dolby 3D can help drive the adoption of 3D—creating a comfortable, customizable, truly enjoyable glasses-free 3D viewing experience while enhancing 3D display performance. “Dolby and Philips are committed to taking the 3D experience to the next level and delivering a high-quality solution for all 3D display devices, including today’s glasses-based devices and tomorrow’s glasses-free displays. The Dolby 3D experience will seamlessly integrate into the use cases and viewing patterns of consumers on the go and in the home, making the use of 3D devices an enjoyable daily experience. Content owners and broadcast operators have the unique opportunity to differentiate their offerings by encoding 3D titles in Dolby 3D for maximum fidelity on Dolby 3D enabled devices while maintaining compatibility with existing 3D products. The system will enable a 3D HD format, including tools for 3D content creation and real-time 3D content conversion.

US Graduated Response System starts July 1

New Copyright Alert System to Target File-Sharing Users

April 16, 2012 – Starting July 1 the Center for Copyright Information (CCI) will oversee a program that has the nation’s largest Internet Service Providers (ISPs) implementing measures aimed at discouraging illegal file sharing.

CCI will oversee the Copyright Alert system, a graduated response system that has ISPs warning Internet users who participate in illegal file sharing. CCI was created in September 2011 by five major ISPs, the six major studios of the Motion Picture Association of America (MPAA), the Independent Film & Television Alliance, the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) and The American Association of Independent Music. Comcast, AT&T, Cablevision, Verizon and Time Warner Cable are the ISPs signed on to the program.

CapitaLand-National Geographic Channel “Building People” Photography Competition enters its third year
Winners with entries that best capture ”Building People” theme to go on exclusive photography trail with acclaimed National Geographic photographer Annie Griffiths

China, Southeast Asia, 12 April, 2012 . CapitaLand Limited is partnering National Geographic Channel once again for the third instalment of CapitaLand-National Geographic Channel ”Building People” Photography Competition. The regional photography competition returns with the chance for photography enthusiasts to participate in the CapitaLand-National Geographic Channel ”Building People” Photography Seminar by award-winning National Geographic photographer Annie Griffiths and win special access to her first-ever photography trail in Singapore. The CapitaLand-National Geographic Channel ”Building People” Photography Competition is open to public on 13 April 2012 and closes on 10 June 2012 (please refer to attached Appendix for competition details).

The competition calls for photographs featuring CapitaLand properties located in Asia Pacific and Europe. Participants aged 18 years old and above are encouraged to capture photographs that accentuate the ”Building People” theme, characterised by the vibrant interactions between CapitaLandfs buildings, including homes, offices, shopping malls, serviced residences and mixed developments, and the people living, working or shopping in these properties. A judging panel, comprising National Geographic photographer Annie Griffiths and executives from the National Geographic Channel and CapitaLand, will evaluate all entries based on aesthetics, originality, creativity and the extent to which the gBuilding Peopleh theme is captured. The judges will also be looking out for entries that creatively portray the way CapitaLand buildings inspire the landscape and how people interact with these buildings every day.

To enter the competition, participants will simply need to submit an original photograph with a caption to the CapitaLand-National Geographic Channel gBuilding Peopleh Photography Competition website (www.capitaland.com/ngc-photo) from 13 April to 10 June 2012.

Last year, the highly popular contest received over 1,200 photograph submissions from countries in Asia Pacific and Europe, including Singapore, China, Australia, Vietnam, Malaysia, Indonesia and France.

With each successful submission, participants will be invited to an exclusive CapitaLand- National Geographic Channel gBuilding Peopleh Photography Seminar where Annie Griffiths will be sharing invaluable photography tips on capturing buildings and people. All entrants will also get an opportunity to showcase their works of art in an upcoming CapitaLand-National Geographic Channel ”Building People” Photography Exhibition at ION Orchard Singapore in the latter half of 2012.

One of the first women photographers to work for National Geographic, Annie Griffiths, together with the judging panel, will select the top three winners. They stand to win up to SGD 5,000 worth of CapitaVouchers, up to SGD 4,000 worth of cameras and other prizes from Nikon and complimentary stays at Ascott serviced residences in Asia Pacific.

In addition, the public can vote for their favourite photograph submissions on the competition website from July 2012. The winner of the highest-voted photograph will be awarded Voters’ Choice, together with CapitaVouchers and a complimentary stay at Ascott serviced residences in Asia Pacific. A special ”Best CapitaMall Photo” prize may be awarded to one of the four winners should his/her photo capture key elements of shoppers engaging in activities within CapitaMalls. All winners will also embark on an exclusive photography trail with Annie Griffiths in August 2012 (please refer to Appendix for detailed prize list).

Mr Tan Seng Chai, Deputy Chief Corporate Officer, CapitaLand Limited, said, ”The CapitaLand-National Geographic Channel ”Building People” Photography Competition received an overwhelming 1,200 entries from Asia Pacific and Europe last year. The striking and unique entries creatively captured vivid photographic visuals of how people live, work and shop around CapitaLandfs buildings. Our credo of eBuilding Peoplef embodies CapitaLandfs purpose of improving peoplefs lives and society through building good buildings. With the success garnered over the past two years, we look forward to receiving more submissions this year that resonate our ”Building People” credo.”

National Geographic Channel, photography judge, Annie Griffiths, added, ”I have only been to Singapore once and spent only a day there, and long to return to the island state for a more thorough visit. This trip is a purposeful stop to observe how photography can capture the essence of beauty in buildings and its architecture, as well as to soak in the rich tapestry of people, their cultures and traditions. I look forward to letting my camera tell the amazing stories of Singapore, and sharing them with the world.”

”The collaborative partnership between National Geographic Channel and CapitaLand allows us to capture and showcase a selection of beautiful photographs of our urban environment, inviting viewers to view their living spaces in fresh perspectives,” Simeon Dawes, Senior Vice President of Advertising Sales and Partnerships at FOX One Stop Media said, ”This demonstrates National Geographic Channelfs unique value and embodies what our photographers and explorers do in their daily lives to bring to their audience a point of view that has never been showcased before. We look forward to a continued partnership and an annual showcase of such striking photographs and talent.”
