16 November 2012, ABS-CBN Broadcasting Corp. said that they have spent almost a billion pesos to go into digital TV.
“We started already last year [on digital TV], [spend] about a billion already in acquiring transmission, library,” said Rolando Valdueza, chief financial officer of ABS-CBN.
“We made initial investment already, we do some test broadcast [comparing analog and digital tv] and part of the investment is acquiring this [equipment] and so were ready to run out. We’re just waiting for the government to issue a standard whether, Japanese or European technology,” he added.
Earlier reports said that the National Telecommunications Commission (NTC) endorse to the Palace the adoption of the Japanese standard for the Philippines’ migration to digital terrestrial TV.
